Biography:
Coral J. Salgado Mendez is a Ph.D. biology student at the University of Puerto Rico, Rio Piedras Campus. She graduated Magna Cum Laude from the Inter American University of Puerto Rico with a B.S. in Microbiology and minors in Chemistry and Mathematics. She has participated in research related to cancer biology, aquaculture, biochemistry and conservation. Her most recent research are on examining Macrobrachium shrimp populations and the consequences of bleach toxicity in freshwater ecosystems. She is an active member of IINSTAR-AS where she mentors undergraduates and pursues her passion for science education and outreach.
