Title : Soft laser beam for inducing spiny Lobster (Panulirus Homarus) growth
Abstract:
Spiny lobster (Panulirus homarus} which is the main export commodity species in Indonesia. Lobster aquaculture continues and develops in line with increasing market demand from within and outside the country even though it depends on wild caught seeds. Lobsters are classified as long-lived organisms with relatively slow growth. The soft laser beam technique which has been successfully carried out on catfish, vanamei shrimp, crabs and freshwater lobsters can be used to induce the lobster growth.. The aim of this study is to determine the effect of soft laser beam induction on the growth the moulting speed of sand lobsters (P. homarus). The research method was an experimental method, with the object being the spiny lobster (P. homarus). The research design that was a Completely Randomized Design with 3 treatments of laser shooting on the left eye stalk of the lobster every week for 2 months, i.e. (1) 4 seconds, (2) 6 seconds, (3) 8 seconds, and 1 control without laser puncture induction treatment; each with 3 repetitions. The test parameters carried out are; carbonic anhydrase, growth, moulting time, carapace content, 17β-estradiol and survival rate. This research was carried out at the Fisheries Extension and Training Center (BP3), Banyuwangi, Indonesia. The stages of the method that was carried out are: (1) Preparation of sand lobsters with an average weight of > 100 g/lobster, (2) Soft beam laser induction according to the laser shooting duration treatment every week, (3) Observations was carried out once a week for 2 months for moulting speed, growth and survival and once for carbonic anhydrase content in pre-moult, moult and post-moult. . Data was analysed using ANOVA with SPSS 26. The result from this study showed that inducing soft laser beam in 4 seconds can increase lobster growth, moulting time, carbonic anhydrase, 17β-estradiol and survival rate.
